JCSD Update
Dear Friends,
There is a saying in Jamaica 'I am too blessed to be stressed' and as I sat at my desk in my office looking through the window, I started to count the many ways God has blessed me.
I heard the children's happy voices as they play, the sky was blue, the bamboo was swaying in the breeze (like doing a praise dance to God) and the birds were singing praises to Him too. I know I am blessed because I am alive and I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I just can't help but praise Him, what an awesome God we serve.
Friends, even though there are rough times in this ministry God continue to prove to me that He is always in control. I am thanking God for our growth, we now have 44 students on roll, the Lord continues to send the children that need us the most.
We thank God for friends of the school that were used by God to bless us with funds for food especially for those couple months when the support was very low. We frequently have water woes and God has placed on the hearts of news friends of the school to donate 14 water tanks, praise God. Many of our students were able to get at least one uniform for this new school year, this from donations and also some funds came in to purchase text books, so more than half the students have their books.
More work was done on the Vocational Training Center. We have prepared three temporary classrooms for the high school department in the VTC building but have not gotten to use them yet because it rains a lot and it is quite muddy to get down to the classrooms. We will have a team this October and they will help us to prepare the walkway to the classrooms, praise God.
The kindergarten building now has a rail on the ground floor, it is now safe for the children. The restrooms have been completed and are being used. Thanks to the teams and individuals who made this possible.
We continue to crave your prayers, our monthly support has dropped from US $7400 to US $4000, our faith in God has been on overdrive. Two of our students (Owayne and Ajani ) have not returned to school and we have reported the matter to the Child Development Agency (CDA).
Our generator is still down, help us pray that we will have the funds to fix it. The school buses need maintenance, repairs, and new tires because of the very poor condition of our roads. Furniture is needed for the classrooms, library, computer room and dining area. We need chairs and desks for teachers and students and tables and chairs for the dining area.
We believe that if our monthly support goal was met then we would be able to purchase these items as needed.
We serve a Great Big Wonderful God and all things are possible with Him. Thank you our dear friends for your prayers and support, we thank God for you every day.
May God bless and keep you all.
Yours in Christ,
Sophia Reid
